A good reminder of the best of times, the worst of times. Aren't we all trying for such a memorable first line. good read for a sunday afternoon.

well here it is, almost a year since I initially comment on your work " A Tale of Two"
I went back to read it today and I love it just as much as the first time. I have even quoted your wonderful 'punchline' in a conversation about writing...full reference to you was given of course, no plagiarism from me.

Hope all is still going along well for you.
Best of luck-

I'm glad to have found these comments about contest politics! It is true. I noticed this as well, and started wildly 'networking', if you can call numerous emails only a fraction of which are responded to 'networking'. I did this probably because I have the half blinded motivation of a writer just out of her shell, and a spur of the moment joiner of Bookrix. I have now figured, with 35 votes and a look at the top 10 numbers... Show more

And please accept my apologies for not thanking you sooner! I'm new to the site and stumble about. Alas, if I don't react/respond to something immediately, I have a difficult time returning to that screen to do so.

All the best to you and I'll check out yor contest entry. I can actually find them, now! Woohoo.

I really liked this and as someone said about my entry " I cannot understand why it has not received more votes" In my case it is because I don't have many bookrix friends yet. As I notice that some people have over 80 votes we aren't going to win. So like politics it is all about networking and winning depends on who you know and how many you know!
I voted for you anyway. good luck in the future.

Hi GM - Your vote is much appreciated.

Indeed, we humans are political beasts by nature. On sites where member "votes" pick winners or whatever, social networking and campaigning are the most significant determinants of what story wins. Politics, though not as heavily, plays a... Show more

At least Dickens got an appointment with the editor even though it was late. Most of us don't get a return email!!

Hi nisamsuzi - Alas, true that!

Without the intro of an agent, the editors at the major publishing houses would rather chew glass light bulbs than discover and nurture new talent all by their little, lonesome selves. Most editors are apparently more concerned with marketing than... Show more

Hello donnamyoung - Did you enter the "contest," as well? I haven't the faintest idea how to find where all the contest entries are listed, etc. I'm certain young whippersnappers designed Bookrix, the site design assumes its users are an all avid web browsers, unlike a certain... Show more
