As usual, Brooks yearns for the good old days when the racist Republican Party
was slightly more discrete in exhibiting its racism. Bush as a man of
integrity? Really, because starting a war over a lie shows you have
principles? Brooks sounds like Trump in suggesting that Conor Lamb is really a
Republican. He is pro-choice, pro-union, anti-tax cut, and pro-background
checks. He agrees on tariffs, but so do a number of Democrats. In short, Lamb
will vote like a Democrat on most things. The main thing he will do is vote
for a Speaker who is not Paul Ryan. I would forgive him a lot for that, but it
is absurd to say ""policy is secondary.""

So, we really don't need Brooks pontificating yet again about how great
Republicans were in the days before Trump. They were bad for our country when
they obstructed Obama on almost everything, including not giving his SC
nominee a hearing. They were just a bit more polite.
