I can't imagine a more terrifying or cruel fate than the one created by you in this story.

This was stunning!!! I love how the ending mirrors the beginning in order to show that he is trapped in a never ending cycle. I have read many entries for the flash fiction contest and this one has become one of my favorites.
May I ask what inspired this piece?

This is what flash fiction is all about! A complete story in as few words as possible. You have made it look so easy, but I know it wasn't. In one page you have enabled us to view this man's situation - his past and his future - in such a satisfactory (if grim) manner.

Well done, Jack. Glad you entered the contest and raised the bar.
