I love this. This gives a subtle modern day twist on the most dedicated man in all history. You gave a detailed account and threw in a great character building analysis of Joseph. The ending was ground breaking which I never expected but you did it well that when read back you could see the ending coming.

Must have been hard for Joseph, but what about Mary? Maybe a Mary perspective story is in the pipeline.......

Well done

John

As always, you weave a tale and carry us along on your coattails. Very clever and very fitting, well done Barry.

So thanks for reading my take.

And, @Val, I totally get where you're coming from because, of course (without giving anything more away) everyone in the story is Jewish. I think it kind of makes the dilemma more poignant.

One thing's for certain, if you can prove anything, one way or another, faith evaporates.

Even as I evaporate, I hope, I can still see a good story when it comes along.

It does have a twist ending and it does contain a mystery of sorts. Well done, Barry! You have a way of weaving words that draw the reader in to the scenario you present.

You wrote this well, and movingly, too. I cannot comment on the content, as my belief is that Joseph was, indeed, the father. Be that as it may -- for those Christians who will be touched by your tale of a lowly, homeless carpenter - this is a good 'un.

A thought provoking story, as to how confused and vulnerable this young man must have been. His faith and love for his wife, must have been truly tested during his arduous journey.
