Nothing

I looked him straight in the eye waiting for a reply. "Trust me. Just drink it." I fearfully held the delicate china in my hand containing the unknown poison. I lifted it higher and higher until it reached my lip. I drank it down and immediate pain shot through me.

"Sssave yourssself!" I heard a snake-like voice. "Sssave yourssself! Hurry before it'sss too late!" I stood there, wherever I was, frozen. It's voice disappeared from the unknown and then I felt a slight poking on my back. As each second past, each poke was more painful than the other.

I felt a knife stab through my spine. I turned to see nothing. Nothing. I had nothing. I felt nothing. I am nothing. I was now in a house which seemed utterly familiar.

A man came through the doorway from my left and started calling in my direction, "Rose, Rose I'm coming! Just hold on! I'm coming!" I tried to hide myself behind an aged table, but he just walked right through me. I lifted up my hand to see nothing. Oh, this word now haunts my mind.

I followed him up a staircase to be led into a room that smelt of mold and dust. "Rose, oh, Rose, what have you done!" A girl of young age lied in a twin-sized daybed. She looked unresponsive of nothing. She screeched a sound so horrid it would wake you up from a nightmare. "Get it away from me! Stop, don't come closer!" She held up her quaint finger and pointed to nothing. To nothing, to me. "There's nothing there Rose. Please Rose, please!" The man started weeping. My emotions took over and I lightly touched his shoulder.

I was back where I was in the beginning. Staring at him. He held in his hands an oak clipboard. "Nothing. That's what it was. Nothing." He laid down his clipboard and snapped his fingers. I was now in nothing. Nothing.
