When I decided that I wanted to write in a serious way, I realized that I needed help. From my past writing experience I knew that three big hurdles for me would be Grammar, Composition, and editing. The first thing I did was search the Internet for writing software that had to do with the three problems mentioned.

What I have found is that the software which I purchased online for a very reasonable cost, and the critiques that I receive from BookRix members has really helped to improve my writing. Of course I also use Windows Word as well.

While I do believe that being critiqued by other writers is important, I also believe that having an arsenal of writers tools on my computer is also important. One thing I want to point out is that having writers on BookRix that are willing to help and share their knowledge is a blessing.

Another resource that helps tremendously is reading other members books on BookRix. I want to the share with member here what writers software I use which might help if you're a beginning writer like me. I do not received any affiliate royalties for these programs. I just want to point them out because I believe that they are good programs at a modest cost. Check them out at the links below.

This is a new group and I hope it will become an active group. For now I'm the moderator and founded this group. I'm a retired United States Marine and live in a small town in Eastern Oklahoma. In the last year I've decided that I want to write to occupy my time. The one thing I will strive to do is to learn to enjoy writing.

I should be completing my first book about my time in Vietnam (1970-1971) as an Infantry Squad Leader with the First Marine Division. There will be three books total on that subject since I served with three different battalions during the war. But I hope to write other books once that trilogy is completed. These will not be short books because a lot went on in these Battalions as we Marines Battled the Viet Cong and the North Vietnamese Army in the lowlands and mountains of South Vietnam.
