Just joined. I'm an older American Military Veteran. I write fantasy and Science fiction, from Thailand. I heard about this site from a question to me, on Quora. I had never previously heard of this site, so, here I am.

Greetings Fellow SciFi-ctionados!

When I'm not fighting crime in St Canard, I enjoy diving into the gritty world of Fantasy/Military-flavoured SciFi, and most ANY book/short story which beaks (lame duck joke) my interest! I'm rather late in getting into Fantasy, but better late than never! Glen Cook's Black Company series is probably my MOST favourite collection of books ever written. I love the dark, grimy, and gritty militaristic story structures seamlessly blended with the wonderfully chaotic order of fantasy themed magic and magically assisted battles for power and leadership.

Anyway, I hope to self publish a novel one day. I've recently become "disabled," and unable to work, despite being in my early 40's. However, rather than become bitter or allow my body to slip, without struggle, into the dark waters of suicidally dangerous depression, I've resolved to become MORE THAN! Encourage others, rejoice and even aid them with reaching and obtaining THEIR goals and dreams. Love and be loved easier than I've ever previously allowed. You know, become MORE THAN in practically every way possible!! If you're reading this and are in doubt or in danger of giving up (on WHATEVER), I implore you to drive deep, think bigger, plan better, and ALWAYS be willing to allow Life to change, alter, or even redirect your heart, mind, and eyes in perhaps ways you've NEVER considered!!

I once dreamed of being a police officer. I dedicated my life to learning, training,and adapting EVERYTHING in my life to serve my dream. I came as close as to be considered in the final round of select "interviewees" for a position. Alas, it was not to be I was crushed. Beyond crushed, actually. Eventually (hindsight is 20/20), I awoke to the fact that Life had other plans for me. Today, I'm actually thankful for 1) the experience of "failing" so very, very close to accomplishing my then-dream. 2) learning (among MANY other things) that one should NEVER, EVER carry a singularly stubborn mindset considering a specific, single goal. In other words, don't count your ducklings before they become masking wearing heroes! Be prepared, and even willing to accept, change (even DRASTIC changes) to suddenly move you in a different (sometimes completely opposite) direction.

So, I'm ALWAYS open to book suggestions, reviewing the works of others, giving advice (or owning up to the fact that sometimes I'm not experienced/qualified to deeply help), and a plethora of other hope inspiring, dream building, smile causing ways to be of assistance. If you've read this far, thank you for caring enough to be supportive of my post! I'd be thrilled to read even a two to three word reply! I am beyond thrilled to have discovered this site. And, as my 24-7 Chronic Pain allows, I look forward to learning more about, from, and with each and every one of you!
