Ukraine, Guccifer, and the trolls in St. Petersburg were all acting on their
own initiative! The facts are so obviously different that it's a show of
strength: Putin is showing his people he can lie and get away with it. Putin
came to power by using his intelligence apparatus against the oligarchs, first
to divide the spoils, then to manage them, and more recently for the
government to co-opt them, to the point that now the government is 70% of the
economy. Putin controls the means of production, the means of expression, and
obviously politics itself.
There is zero equivalence between this nation and Russia, and this kind of
pressure is exactly what's needed. Putin's collaborators already realize his
form of control is a liability, but they have no way out. This could give them
one.
