Using the phrase ""American brand"" is disappointing. It's a demeaning phrase.
""Brand"" associated with our reputation? Really? Mr. Blow is usually far more
erudite and careful in his choice of words. ""Brand"" is cringeworthy.
But the ideas Mr. Blow expresses are as true and insightful as ever.
