Trump's baseless assertion that the mass shooters are cowards flies into the
face of the universal recognition, even by Trump, that these shooters all have
significant mental health problems, and that fear of death or capture is
lacking in almost everyone of them.
In fact, from 2009-2016 in the U.S., there have been 156 mass
shootings—incidents in which four or more people were shot and killed, not
including the shooter, and 66 shooters killed themselves after their mass
shooting, and another 17 perpetrators were shot and killed by responding law
enforcement (""suicide by cop""?), so 50% of mass shooters likely planned to
die immediately after or during their heinous act.
Knowing that someone in the school will be ready to kill them once they start
firing will NOT DETER a deranged shooter…it will just actually form part of
their plan in at least 50% of the shootings.
