It starts at the Table of Contents...
That oft elusive, generally-unfounded sense that something great is about to unfold. Chapter titles like "Hyde & Sikh" draw you in. Immediately you understand that this is no ordinary novel. And Scott's no ordinary writer.
Well done!!!
I consider myself well-read. After having finished your pages, I too found myself captivated by the story. What sets your book apart from the vast majority of others, I think, goes beyond plot and flawless grammar. There is this thing called "voice". You have mastered and gone far beyond effective first person narrative. My hat is off to you, Scott Sonders.
Agreed. Sonders is effectively literary yet a "smooth" and "entertaining" read. The characters were captivating and left me wanting a sequel! - You're a good reader, Bill. That's also rare today.
The book demonstrates Mr. Sonders' command of an endearing literary style. It was an entertaining read, as smooth as the characters portayed in the story, a very nice slice of LA in the 1970s for those of us who didn't live here then.
Just started reading your book, love what I have read so far,you have a very visual style, voted for it too.
I love the way you write. I love all of your references (even the ones I don't know - lol) but you are definately good at what you do. I wouldn't mind recommending our book to others if you permit. Once again great book, goodluck, and Happy Reading
