The Book of Angelina

The Book of Angelina

A short story adaptation from my novel,"Cathedral".

Matthew Ash, world famous, but lately-failing author, has gone to a scenic lodge, high in the Colorado Rocky Mountains in order to break the back of the horrible beast that has grabbed hold of him–writer’s block.

Isabella Barrington, young businesswoman, is staying at the lodge, in turmoil and fleeing, at least momentarily, from the agony of having to tell her lover back home that their relationship is finished.

Matthew and Isabella fall in love over the course of the weeks, but then...

Isabella has gone. Matthew Ash is alone, now, beginning to write again.

I wrote it seven years ago. It's a chapter from a book I never completed (sadly). I think "Cathedral" had definite promise. Maybe one day I'll go back and complete it.

The lyrics are quite beautiful. Jenkins nailed the music.

I THINK Gabriel Faure wrote the lyrics, way back in the early part of the 20th century, although it's possible the lovely lyrics are ancient--a part of the Catholic Mass for the Dead.
Anyway, I've always loved Faure's... Show more

This short story is what you call a masterpiece. Every description word in this book is as beautiful as a movie where you can easily imagine the scenery. It is truly incredible.

It read like a symphony with crescendos and valleys that made the words dance. However it was terribly sad. I hope he finds some sort of happiness by the end of the book.
