Nothing wrong with a work requirement. Work is a good thing: keeps people from
treating boredom in a number of unhealthy ways. That said -- there is LOTS of
work to get done. Good old Portmouth, needs all of the lines in all of its
major roads repainted. Old people need help with just about verything: ditto

treating boredom in a number of unhealthy ways. That said -- there is LOTS of
work to get done. Good old Portmouth, needs all of the lines in all of its
major roads repainted. Old people need help with just about verything: ditto
children. NYC's subways are disgusting however the prisinte (at last) platform
floor -- walls and ceilings are pretty bad still) on the number one uptown at
34th St. gives me hope. Start scraping off the gum at 14th St... LOTS OF IT.
Problem will be 1) the unions which want a monopoly on everything and pay for
seniority not jobs done and 2) building trust amongst people who do not know
each other. No reason churches, community centers, libraries, schools CAN""T
be mobilized for after school homework help centers.. (Might solve hunger
issues as well. Sandiwches.)
TRUST is a huge problem. (PS people need help getting home from hospitals. )
We will need to establish official volunteer centers to ,monitor and prescribe
specific activities. Or people could make things to sell: sweaters, quilts,
buckwheat husk filled mattesses; or carpentry -- handmade furniture for less
than 31K.. Maybe we could even bring back the steel industry or less high tech
the shoe indsutry - Made in USA.
