Er hofft auf etwas Entspannung am Ende dieser einsamen Tageswanderug. Vielleicht im Hinterzimmer eines Gasthofes, so wie er es gewohnt ist. Erst einmal werden ihm am Stadttor seine letzten Goldstücke abgenommen. Was er dann zu Gesicht bekommt, ist allerdings härter und fantastischer als je zuvor.
