You have written a very touching and inspirational story. Scarlett's unconditional, self-sacrificing, undying love is so inspiring. The surprise ending really touched my heart.

Good job. Descriptive yet short... enjoyed it a lot. For some reason I figured out the twist before I got to the end though. :)

I could feel the smoke engulfing my lungs and the cries of my loved ones as well as the crackling of the ferocious fire consuming everything around me.

I don't know why, but I had already assume the character you were describing was a cat! Pretty funny, but it made me smile when you revealed that little bit of info.
