There is so much here that can extend this shot story into a longer piece. I would love to read a longer version of this. This is something that I think would do well in the market. Just sayin'.

Very tight. Very readable. The crucible is small, and in this instance it is perfect. A different take on the theme of the end of the world. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and as it is well-written and meets the criteria for the contest, I happily vote.
