This begs the question, what has caused the role of dogs to change so much? In
my childhood (50 years ago) dogs did in fact live in dog houses. Basically
chained to a long leash in the back yard and fed table scraps. Played with a
bit but otherwise ignored. Looking back it seems so cruel.
