Zormna Clendar’s first year as the queen of Arras has been bumpy, and all she wants right now is to have a regular Sweet Sixteen birthday party. However, as someone born on an ancient holiday (of the many signs that she is an answer to a long looked-for prophecy) her party gets interrupted when a space craft from the lost human colony of Aloea shows up. And more startling, within the crew is a real alien from the Th’san Empire, who desires to meet her. All the warning bells are going off for Jafarr Zeldar, her protector (and inconveniently the newly elected President of Arras, a position he does not actually want) who allows them in against his better judgement, yet for the sake of peaceful intergalactic relations. But he really should have listened to those warning bells, for their queen somehow gets snatched from their world right under their noses. Determined to get her back, Jafarr and those in Surface Patrol, follow that space craft back to Aloea. But what they find at Aloea is not what they had expected.
