Great concept--it's nice to see some variety on the topic of families--not just tales about visiting relatives or uncovering personal memories, though those can also work. One of the major themes that came across to me was that of the cost of blind warfare: men on each side purport honor and try to preserve reputation, but at the end of the day, all they accomplish is the destruction of their town. But their strife knows no end, it's an eternal conflict, like Ying and Yang, and I think that was the crowning concept of your story.
