I think the point about Millennials has to do with the fact that those who
were graduating from college (or high school) around the time of the recession
took a financial hit that meant that for a while even though people continued
to get older, they weren't able to buy the same assets that people ten years
their elders were. So there is a sort of backlog of people in the market for
homes, along with people who are now aging into the home buying demographic
and are also interested in buying homes. So they demand is high. And because
less homes were built during the recession, stock cannot now keep up with
demand. The need is there, but the demand is there too.
