medical help she so desperately and obviously was in need of, is this.
What ever happened to us as a nation, a time when we used to agree that
Compassionate Commitment was unfortunately necessary for those living in the
immediate and destructive throes of active psychotic mental illness?
I'm almost beginning to believe there is something far more disturbing about
us, as a society in which we've allowed ourselves to let the current ""hands-
off"" mental health meme about 'personal freedoms' to brainwash us into this
hideous passivity of non-action in how we view, and treat homelessness and
severe mental illness. When will we Americans, our sense of duty and humanity,
outrage, wake up from our collective slumber to demand a far more pro-active
approach to mental health treatment. Such a shame.
