One of two things is going on here:

1.) As John Brennan has opined, Putin 'has something' on Trump. Whether it be
sexual 'kompramat', proof of money laundering or other criminal dealings by
Trump and his organization, or just simply that Trump, who it is pretty well
known is deep in debt, has large loans from or backed by a Russian bank and
knows that one call from Putin means that those loans could be called and lead
to his financial ruin. It has already been reported as long as a year ago,
that the Trump organization has thousands of LLCs in Russia, and we all surely
have seen the video of Don jr. bragging in front of a conference a few years
ago how much business they do there, regardless of Trumps repeated denials of
this fact.

2.) As has been surmised, Trump has wanted to build a hotel in Moscow for a
very long time and, as most things go in Russia, he would need Putin's seal of
approval to be able to do that. There has also been confirmation of this from
the Sader/Stone intercepts.

Of course, coloring all of this is Trump's unashamed and juvenile obsession
with authoritarian leaders, Putin not being the only one.

Thus the fact remains that we are being governed by Archie Bunker. As far a
governing nothing good will emerge. All the policies are derived from a false
pretense. Denial of climate change. Nativism. Despite all the evidence a
belief in trickle down economics. (at this point the list could get very
long). Now he is surrounding himself with people as myopic as him. George
Patton once said ""If everybody is thinking alike someone is not thinking"" In
this White House no one is a thinker. There is one adult left Mattis. So yes
Mr. Krugman is correct there is no real governing taking place, but as long as
the base sees they sitcom they want from 1600 Ave. Its real to them. He is
only the symptom. In 8 months the blue wave will restore some normalcy, but we
are foolish to believe that his base will emerge from their trance and say
""Oh my god what have I done"" they will turn the channel and look for the
next reality show that tells them what they want to hear.

I apologize on behalf of myself and other thinking Americans.
I am as much for democracy, and against dictatorships, as I was against both
Iraq War I and II. Both were ignorant and jingoistic solutions to intractable
problems that define the Middle East, in no small part generated by the
absurdity of oil wealth and its disruptive influence.
Too many in the U.S., easily a mority, live in complete ignorance of the
devastation American influence has brought on Iraq, Libya, and Afghanistan.
The backlash led to the election of a right-wing nut job in Turkey, and will
probably lead to the ultimate devastation of the Kurds.
The propping up of colonial powers never did, or does, anyone much good.
