Powerful poetry. Beautiful and evocative. I also laughed over the Christmas carol poem: I sing in a big choir and I get all caroled-out over Christmas! Great stuff.

This African poet has not seen the snow or felt the chill of winter. Yet, the imagery of his poems reflect what I see this morning, as I experience the first snowstorm of the season in the northeast USA. The correlation of winter with his deep religious beliefs and his disdain of what mankind is capable of, ("perhaps before we set the sun at dawn before it rises") results in a book that is worthy of my vote.
