A great ideal

Chapter one

First note: I thought Sheila was a girl(what is his name anyway? And is he a girl, or a boy?). I'm still a bit confused. So make sure you are specific on that point! No use in getting genders mixed up, it is flustering to the reader.
I went back to try and mend my confusion, but I could not. The mannerisms of Sheila(?) were female like... until the girl at the drive thru gave him(?) her number. So now I'm bewildered at my perception of the character. What is he(?) really supposed to be like?

Nevertheless! An interesting beginning. It's good enough to keep me reading :) And that's really all that counts(besides the gender issue.)
