This was absolutely top of my list of favorites and I applaud you for your win. Beautifully written with a blood curdling ending. Congratulations, Michael.
Thank you JC and Preston,
I'm glad you enjoyed the story. I wrote it in about 2.5 hours (not continuous) as I watched college hoops on TV. It was hard to stay focused when so many upsets were occurring over that particular weekend. The prompt was a fun one and open-ended enough to allow creativity.
Regards,
Augustus.
Well, you certainly proved one thing: You can write one helluva story--impeccably edited--no matter what the rules.
Excellent, nicely done.
Pat, Lenora.books and mkidd6,
Thanks to you all for your kind words. I certainly had a lot of fun writing this entry for the "Beat the Clock Contest." As one famous writer once said, "I would have made it shorter, but I didn't have time. haha
I do appreciate your comments.
Regards,
Augustus
Those poor brave children! Wonderful page turner! I love how the tension builds and builds. Thanks!
Hi Reggie,
This story was expanded over time since it was first posted. It recently was accepted for publication by Yellow Medicine Review. It will appear under the title RED BLOOD ON THE REZ.
