ABOUT THE AUTHOR.

I am Will Maccabe, the author and artist behind “Tail End Charlie : 2074 A.D.” which is my first illustrated science fiction novel.

CREATIVE BACKGROUND.

Freelance Concept Artist / Illustrator / Writer

Since a young boy I have been interested in bringing fictional worlds to life. Many days were spent reading science fiction and fantasy products, and playing table top war games, computer games, role playing games and drawing concept art. I have even designed simple games. All of this makes me a better writer of science fiction.

As a writer I am inspired by great science fiction such as the Alien franchise, Star Wars, Games Workshop, and anime and science fiction movies such as Akira and Ghost in the Shell. My style is action packed, very graphic, and “rock n'roll”, and I would say Quentin Tarantino and James Cameron are my biggest influences as screenplay writers. Some of my favourite authors include Asimov, Orson Scott Card, Steve Jackson, Ian Livingstone, Irvine Welsh, J.R.R. Tolkien and various graphic novel writers. I read a lot of non-Fiction titles too.

I am also a freelance concept artist and so tackle my writing in a visual way. For example, “Tail End Charlie: 2074 A.D.” was developed alongside concept art and designs I was making. This helps bring the world as I am depicting it to life, with some pretty rad designs giving the book a visual edge reminiscent of a graphic novel, game or anime movie.

Expect more illustrated novels, I am working on my second and third titles.
