Hello

Hello and my least favorite part of writing is the review and editing, of course. I am sure that is true of many writers.

There is nothing sweeter than pulling a reader into the world you have created by engaging all their six senses. The eyes, the nose, the ears, the skin, the tongues and the mental sense. Reading engages the mental sense but writing with powerfully descriptive words that accurately culture the moment in your books affords the reader a chance to read, see, feel, hear and taste your book.
It's more about finding the words a reader can relate to that doesn't take away the beauty of a narrative.

Take this for example:
1) The girl skipped down the road

2) The young girl skipped down the dusty road.

3) The young girl skipped down the dusty road, whistling a Christmas tone.

4) The young girl skipped down the dusty road while the wind caressed the soft tresses of her cropped blonde hair. As she lifted one foot before the other, she mumbled the lyrics to a Christmas song often times humming the part she did not know the lyrics to.

5) The young girl skipped down the dusty road while the wind caressed the soft tresses of her cropped blonde hair. A smaller brown wicker basket dangled from the crook of her arm as she sniffed the strawberry cupcakes her mother had baked for grandma.

As she lifted one foot before the other, she mumbled the lyrics to 'jingle Bell's often times making up her own lyrics where she was at loss of words. The dust behind her rose like a small puffy cloud after each skip.

Each description is more advanced than the last but each one helps us to see the world as though we were part of it. I'm still trying to learn this though. But this is how far I have gone. I hope this helps.
