The Corpse That Wasn't There is the first of a series of mystery stories for young readers, The Junior Handler Mysteries. The series is about a group of kids who show their dogs in special classes for young handlers, and the trouble they are led into, and out of, by a Saluki with a psychic nose for trouble.
